Vienna Hills Gruner Veltliner 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

the grapes are already largely from vineyards that are managed by the Year 2011 ready by certified biodynamic guidelines. After careful grape selection by hand-picking and a further selection by a newly installed, fully automated grape sorting, the individual parts of the Grüner Veltliner Vienna mountains after a short maceration squeezed gently. The pre-clarified must was cooled in a steel tank fermented and expanded to the fruity and racy character so well like to emphasize possible. After a mean storage time on the lees, the individual parts were still together in the winter and bottled.

“Viennese wine” and “Wieninger” are nearly synonymous. Much of the prestige of Vienna’s wines can be attributed to the work of the Wieningers. “Viennese wine” and “Wieninger” are nearly synonymous. Much of the prestige of Vienna’s wines can be attributed to the work of the Wieningers. The nearly 100-year-old winery was run exclusively as a “heurigen” (vineyard tavern) business until Fritz Wieninger, Jr., became manager of the wine production in the 1980s . He now concentrates solely on discriminating, high-quality wines. The wines are available mainly in fine restaurants and specialty shops. A small amount is sold at the winery. Wine-tasting is delightfully uncomplicated at the family’s own heurigen, which is managed by Fritz’s brother Leo. Approximately one third of the entire production is designated for export. Among the most important markets are Germany and the U.S., but the new EU member states have also shown a keen interest. Wieninger’s recipe for success can be found in the personal dedication of the entire Wieninger team. With that unique Viennese charm and grace, they are able to imbue in customers and friends of the house the winemaker’s philosophy and pleasure in the enjoyment of wine. Read less

White pepper and green apple on the nose, stone fruits and apple on the palate. strong minerality, nice acidity. pleasant

Tasting Notes:

The wine boasts a delicately woven Veltliner nose, fragrant and fresh, tasty and elegant on the palate with lively acidity. Even as a young wine, Grüner Veltliner is able with his spicy and fresh way to please and is an ideal companion to the classic Austrian cuisine.
