Viader Red Bordeaux Blend Napa Valley Proprietary Red 2009
Plethora of aromas including toasted caramel, sweet red raspberry, dried strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate, cocoa bean, sage, rosemary, forest underbrush, cedar, clove, tobacco, crushed rock. A classy mouthfeel, medium to full-bodied, with a rich concentration of bright red fruits gracing the long sweet finish. This was a classic, elegant vintage for us at Viader and the 2009 will continue to impress over the next decade. Pairs exceptionally well with a Rib-eye steak and sautéed mushrooms. Viader captures an ideal balance between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon adds complexity and character as well as the backbone structure for long aging potential while Cabernet Franc contributes to the early approachability, elegant structure and violet-like aromatics. Viader is made from the finest selection of our hillside estate on Howell Mountain.
Three and a half glasses
Beautiful, smooth feel in the mouth. Classic Napa Cab mellowed a bit with the high Cab Franc content. Elegant, long finish.

Underwhelming at $100 a bottle. While the finish is long and mouth puckering, I still cannot wrap my head around the price. I love the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Very good wine. Interesting blend with so much Petite Verdot. Lots of spice and ceder box aroma. Chocolate and plum in the taste. I would love to taste a vertical of this.
The nose is not over powering. Picked up hints of blackberry. On the palate a very different story. Loaded with dark ripe plums and some other fruits in the background. hints of vanilla, some tartness and really nice tannins. Nice structure and full body. The best part is the super finish that goes on and on and picking up hints of dark chocolate.
A cool start, moving into eucalyptus with a beautiful finish. Tasted at the New York Wine Experience

...Licorice, smoky oak and a hint of surmaturite on the nose. Round, sweet and approachable, with plum and licorice flavors. Finishes with dusty, broad tannins and good freshness and grip... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2001 Viader Vineyards Proprietary Red Wine 375ml
From the steep, rocky slopes of Howell Mountain, comes this well-rounded St. milion-like blend of 55% Cab Sauvignon and 45% Cab Franc. Highly aromatic with lots of cherry/currant fruit on the nose and palate. An elegant and complex wine.
