Veroton Bodegas Alto Moncayo Bodegas Alto Moncayo Espanha Aragon Tinto 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2005 Aquilon has a splendid perfume of slate violets and cherry compote. There is beautiful integration of oak tannin and acidity a smooth texture layers of flavor and exceptional length. There is enough structure to support 6-8 years of cellaring and it will provide pleasure through 2030. Wine Advocate.

Velvety. Soft. Plum. Smooth, yet still acidic. Light pencil lead on nose. Light jamminess. $50

I've had 3 bottles of this in the last year and have been very impressed each time. Super smooth with chocolate notes and expressive berry with a touch of jam. Feels like a superb Australian Shiraz, but love that it is a Spanish Garnacha. Wow'ed many friends at a neighbor's party and, by request, went back home for another bottle!

This baby is big and bold with an enormous amount entertainment for the tongue. High alcohol makes for a heady glass and you'll want more than one if your into big personalities but go easy and enjoy it slowly. Food or no food, simply a delight to experience. For the price its win win. Love it!

For the price, this is a fabulous Grenache. Great wine with nice home cooked organic meal.

With only 1000 cases produced, this wine is a rare gem. Made from a selection of Old Vine Grenache from hillside vineyards. Rich, with a silky mouth feel, this wine bursts forth with flavors of kirsch, black raspberries, cassis, and vanilla. Underlying minerality gives this wine amazing structure.

Dark purple. The nose offers surreal, room-filling perfume of ripe raspberry, blackberry, incense, vanilla and dried flowers. Shockingly understated on the palate, with vibrant red berry, smoked meat and baking spice flavors, silky tannins and crisp ... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Grenache wine from Aragon in Spain. 2005 Alto Moncayo, Bodegas Aquilon 750ml

(100% garnacha) Inky purple. A heady bouquet evokes ripe red berries, anise, mocha and pungent fresh flowers. Supple and sweet on entry, then more structured in the middle, offering deep, mineral-accented dried strawberry and cherry liqueur flavors. ... Stephen Tanzer. A Grenache wine from Aragon in Spain. 2005 Alto Moncayo, Bodegas Alto Moncayo Veraton 750ml

Coming from the Alto Moncayo winery in the Campo de Borja region of north-central Spain, this is old vine Garnacha at its best. Deep ruby color, a nose brimming with blackberries, vanilla, and espresso, and spicy berry notes on the palate. All we can say is WOW!
