Filled out with compelling and long-lasting Zinfandel fruit and remarkably adept at managing its high ripeness, this gutsy, full-bodied youngster is exceptionally well-balanced for the big wine that it is. Rather than running to softness, it firms up and tightens as it goes, and its fine spine of integral tannins tags it as one that will only get better if allowed four or five years of age.

With a more sophisticated style, the Vermeil Zin is a wine that appeals to Left Bank Bordeaux drinkers. Firm tannins and elegant spices are the dominant features, but the black currant and plum notes add softness on the finish. Food pairing: red meats, pasta Flavor type: traditional Body type: full Finish: elegant

The 1908 Block Zinfandel has bright, succulent fruit flavors that are just like biting into a juicy blackberry; some peppery spice and evident tannins balance the structure of the wine; a Napa Valley beauty that’s mouth-filling, intense and delicious.

The wine, from this old vineyard, contains a good chunk of Petite Sirah, which adds body and tannins to the Zinfandel. Itandrsquo;s a delicious wine, wonderfully drinkable, with deep, complex blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate, licorice, raisin, black pepper and sandalwood flavors that finish long and spicy.

Opaque ruby. Potent aromas of dark berry preserves, cola, violet and licorice, with a subtle floral note that gains strength with air. Lush and creamy in texture, offering deep blackberry and cherry compote flavors that show a suave blend of richness and energy. Becomes spicier with air and finishes long and sappy with lingering sweetness. While this wine has the depth to age itandrsquo;s pretty appealing right now, if rather unevolved.
