Vérité Merlot Blend Sonoma County la Muse 2003
A blend comprised primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon that is articulate and powerful, La Joie expresses the richness and depth of a Pauillac-style wine. It begins with a deep, dense purple color, offering up aromas of black currants, coffee, caramel, spicebox, herbs, and smoke. This is a full-bodied, complex and multi-layered wine with vanilla, chocolate, cassis and black fruits on the mid-palate followed by coffee bean flavors and youthful tannins on an exceptionally long finish.
The Vérité Estate is located in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountain range at the southern tip of Sonoma County's Alexander Valley. Vérité's unique location, shared by only one other winery, is just north of the confluence of the Chalk Hill and Knights Valley appellations.

Deep ruby to the rim. Aromas of blackberry, violet, bitter chocolate and licorice. Huge, broad and silky, with a wonderfully suave texture. Flavors of dark berries, chocolate and mocha. As fat as this is, it's also quite lively. Finishes with uncanny... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2003 Verite Le Desir 750ml
The dark, foreboding 2003 Le Desir (44% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Malbec) exhibits an opaque purple color along with scents of incense, fruitcake, black currants, mocha, and berries. Rich, concentrated, tannic, and dense, it appears to be even more backward than La Joie. Nevertheless, it possesses tremendous upside potential. Cellar it for 3-4 years and enjoy it over the following three decades.
The 2003 La Muse (a blend of 83.5% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Malbec) is sourced from three vineyards, Bennett Valley, Alexander Valley, and Knight?s Valley. An elegant, sweet nose of espresso roast, chocolate, berries, kirsch, smoke, incense, and roasted meats is followed by a full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine with superb fruit, richness, complexity, and length. Its sweet tannin and heady personality suggest current accessibility as well as the ability to age for 15-20 years.
(a St. Emilion-style blend of 44% merlot 41% cabernet franc 11% cabernet sauvignon and 4% malbec) Ruby-red. Brooding perfumed aromas of dark fruits violet and chocolate. Sweet and intensely flavored with lively acids framing the currant black raspberry mineral and dark chocolate flavors. Very densely packed wine with the sheer material to support its big ripe tannins. Give this plenty of aeration if you plan to open a bottle anytime soon. Or better yet lay it down for six to eight yea
My favorite of this trio is the 2003 Le Desir a Sonoma County St.-Emilion look-alike made from 41% Cabernet Franc 44% Merlot 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Malbec (14.3% alcohol). Hints of graphite mulberries black cherries black currants licorice dusty loamy soil truffles and spice emerge from this strikingly fragrant complex 2003. Full-bodied with formidable intensity sweet tannin and a long layered finish that lasts for nearly 50 seconds this is a tour de force and a compelling 20
The deep purple-colored 2003 La Joie (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc) is produced from the same vineyard sources as the La Muse. There is a laser-like focus to this large-scaled, inky/purple-tinged 2003. Notes of graphite, ... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. "The 2003 vintage marks Pierre's sixth vintage of La Muse and represents his continued dedication to craft wines without compromise. A blend comprised primarily of Merlot, La Muse demonstrates the elegance and finesse of a Pomerol-style wine. The wine begins with a rich purple color, followed by a sweet nose of blackberry, spices, tobacco, chocolate and incense. On the palate, it is full-bodied, complex and elegantly textured with a subtle hint of oak and pepper with soft ripe tannins and a clean long finish." - Pierre Seillan, Vigneron
