Vérité Merlot Blend Sonoma County la Muse 1998

Member Review by VegasOenophile:

Slight TCA on the nose. Unfortunate. Was looking forward to this one. Aside form that, red currant, cherry and a little stony. On the palate, cranberry and cab franc-like red fruit. Thin, somewhat lacking depth. It's like it being "corked" pulled all the body and depth and complexity out of the wine. It was thin and flimsy. Seemed like it was good had it not been victim of TCA. 88 pts.

Dark, rich and chocolaty, with black cherry and blackberry fruit that's deep and concentrated. Gains complexity with mineral, cedar, coffee and tarry notes, turning dry and tannic. Best from 2002 through 2010. 1,956 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 1998 Verite 750ml

A mix of up-front, supple-textured mocha, currant and vanilla, and harder-edged tannins that gang up on the finish, firming, with leather, herb and a chewy, gritty aftertaste. Drink now through 2008. 1,859 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 1998 Verite La Joie 750ml

Tasting Notes:

"What one notices first is the conjunction of concentrated black-cherry Merlot fruit and a texture somewhere between satin and velvet. What one notices last is the broad finish that lingers. The 1998 Verite can be enjoyed now or cellared for even greater drinking pleasure." - Pierre Seillan, Vigneron

Closure: Cork
