Paired very well with light lobster dish - nice spice with lemon/lime hints
Remarkably plump Chardonnay from an area (and winemaker) I associate more with lighter, crisper wines. Maybe it's the age (tasted in October 2009), but this wine came across as very soft, ripe, and open in this tasting. Lots of the usual yeasty/toasty/leesy notes, but these are accompanied by pineapple-like fruit along with butter and underlying sweet citrus. Unusual, tasty Pouilly-Fuisse, but just a tad flabby at this point.
We've worked our way through a case of this delicious Chardonnay over the last 7 years or so, and just drank our final bottle at age 9. It is still drinking magnificently, though it's certainly fully mature and I wouldn't be inclined to age it further. Excellent lees-laden nose of spiced ripe pears, apples, toast, and a strong mineral component like wet gravel. Medium bodied with delicious white fruit flavors, and a very slightly grassy/melon touch like a top-notch Sauvignon Blanc. One of the best Macons I've ever tasted.
