Veramonte Red Blend Primus 2007

Midnight blueberry, dark color. Enticing, aromatic, plummy bouquet with rich extracted fruit and a subtle clove spice. Unctuous, young, bright fruit on a respectable finish. Break out the yum, yum recording, this Chilean red is so good.

Subtle smoke weaves through the polished plum and blackberry flavors. Sweet, medium-weight and fleshy texture and juicy finish. Delicious. Good to see this wine living up to expectations. 60 percent Carmenère, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2003.

Vivid ruby. Pungent aromas of redcurrant, cherry, mint and cedar. Juicy and high-pitched, with brisk acidity adding cut to the zesty red fruit flavors. Youthfully closed today but conveys an impression of finesse and balance. Finishes with lingering cherry and mint notes.

Unusually ripe for a Casablanca red, this blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and carmenere has the texture of melted chocolate and ripe flavors of fig and blueberry. A powerful acidity keeps a refreshing tension.

The proprietary red wine, the 2004 Primus, is a blend of 47% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 23% Carmenere. It delivers an attractive perfume of pain grille, black cherry and blueberry. This is followed by a supple, ripe wine with no hard edges in a racy style. Drink this tasty, lively red over the next five years.
