Veramonte Chardonnay Reserva 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

89 points Wine Spectator: Quite ripe, with forward pear, fig and melon flavors backed by a toasty but well-integrated finish. There's solid richness and length, and this is a bit bolder in style than most Casablanca Chardonnays. Drink now through 2010. Best Values. (2/28/09)

I'm sorry if this makes no sense to you, but this is the 'Warehouse 13' of white wines. wine.com's review on this page is very generous and over-detailed. this is simple citrus-tinged white.

Tasted against a chard from Sumac Ridge - BC - this is completely different flavour profile - something i enjoyed more. Some tropical citrus on nose that carries on to the medium bodied almost buttery palate. Nice, and good valley from Chile.

Nice smoke and oak to this cheap cab - would buy again if looking for cheaper Cab

Hazy, greenish-straw color. A complex bouquet offers scents of smoky lees, lemon and orange, along with a subtle floral undertone. Very complex for this price point, offering toasty citrus and orchard fruit flavors and good mineral snap on the back. Gains weight with air and finishes with echoes of toast, lemon and anise. This is an outstanding value.

Pineapple, nectarine, melon and banana resonate in this elegant Chardonnay with freshness and a clean, bright finish.

Peach, pear and pineapple fruit, all done up in toasty, butterscotchy oak. Plump in the mouth and a little soft on the vanilla-laden finish. A crowd-pleaser.

Veramonte is one of the early proponents of Casablanca, and this wine sings a pretty tune. The bouquet offers apple, melon, pear and a kiss of solid oak, while the palate shows vanilla along with soft pear and apple flavors. Balanced and a touch sweet, but not too oaky or resiny.

Green-hued yellow. Seductively perfumed nose offers ripe melon, pear, vanilla and an exotic anise quality. Nicely concentrated pit fruit and melon flavors are braced by zesty acidity and gain sweetness and flesh on the close. The oak is very suavely integrated here and the finish displays impressive persistence.

Apple and pear aromas are elevated by a whiff of toast, while the tropical palate is weighty but propped up by solid acids. Apple, melon and pineapple flavors are perfectly healthy, and the finish is composed and only slightly pithy. Drink right away before it loses its vitality.

Good fig, pear and apple fruit here, with notes of toast and butter as well. A mineral hint on the finish keeps it honest. Drink now.
