Venta Morales Organic Tempranillo 2009
Venta Morales is the new estate of Rafael Canizares. His work in eastern La Mancha has produced clearly some the highest quality wines not just from La Mancha but from all of Spain. He's identified La Mancha's best vineyards and has done a lot of work isolating the oldest vines and working with the best clones of Tempranillo. This is an estate driven by value and the sole wine of the estate Venta Morales is one of our best. The Mediterranean climate and poor soils of sand, limestone and slate yield a particularly rich Tempranillo. In addition some of the vines are 40 to 50 years old which give natural, lower yields yielding even more complexity.
My Rating 88: Very nice well balanced Tempranillo nose . Body dry but with good backbone and fruity aromas. Very pleasing Spanish wine. The price of $ 7 dollars is very good
My rating 86. Nice inexpensive Tempranillo. Smooth nose with some complexity. Well balanced taste with some hint of bitter. Overall still a nice deal
Lovely aroma of red fruit - smooth, medium-bodied, very pleasant amount of red fruit tastes - cherry, strawberry, plum - tannins seemingly non-existent, but, there is a slight lingering of spices on the finish - at $6 to $8 a bottle - excellent value
Delicious full body 100% Tempranillo with a wonderful jammy dark fruit mouthfeel. Paired excellently with a spicy sausage ragu sauce!

This modern red shows good density, with black cherry, licorice and smoke flavors over firm tannins, finishing fresh and clean. Drink now through 2011.
Big boysenberry aromas are lively, a bit minty and fresh. while the extracted palate has a fruit-driven personality, ample tannins and dark wild-berry flavors. Young, bouncy and tangy on the finish. Composed for a young, inexpensive red.
The 2009 Venta Morales is 100% Tempranillo raised in stainless steel. Deep crimson-colored, it emits aromas of spice box and fragrant black cherry. On the palate licorice and other black fruits emerge
The 2009 Venta Morales is 100% Tempranillo raised in stainless steel. Deep crimson-colored, it emits aromas of spice box and fragrant black cherry. On the palate licorice and other black fruits emerge leading to a finish with no hard edges. Drink this excellent value over the next 2-3 years.
The 2008 Venta Morales is a phenomenal value. Sourced from a 32-year-old vineyard with tiny yields of two tons per acre, the wine was fermented and raised in stainless steel. It reveals a remarkably deep color for its humble price, fragrant black cherry aromas, ripe, round, savory fruit on the palate, and excellent depth and length. It over-delivers in a very big way.
Inky purple. Fresh cherry and dark berries on the nose, with a hint of smoke coming up with air. Firm and focused, with dried red and dark fruit flavors and chewy tannins. Nothing jammy about this wine. The finish is firm, dusty and nicely persistent. A steal.
