User Reviews for Venica & Venica Pinot Grigio Collio Jesera
Add your reviewhard to describe this one. Not dry or sweet or fruity or buttery. Did not do the pineapple/grapefruit/citrus overtone that could make Pinot Grigio too sharp. That said, caught a lot of fruit flavors including pear and banana (nose had a lot of banana) without being sweet and a very creamy taste and finish overall (creamy and smooth, not buttery). Very nice finish. Antonio Galloni writes in Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Pinot Grigio Jesera is very nicely done. A rich, textured fabric of varietal fruit caresses the palate in this generous, expansive white. For the first time I note a slightly more intense shade in the color here, suggesting that Venica is following the increasingly popular retro trend of giving the Pinot Grigio a little bit of contact on the skins. This is a very pretty showing from Venica. A clean, poised finish gives the wine its sense of balance and harmony. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015."

Winemaker's Notes:
The natural copper color extracted with maceration is the signature of this wine and its richness reminiscent of Williams pear, banana, and Acacia flowers wrapped in a slight scent of fresh apricot. Intriguing taste with pleasant flavors of pear syrup and quince peels. Good acid/alcohol balance with a long fruity finish. Food match: eggs and asparagus, gnocchi with pumpkin and ricotta, risotto with 'sclopit' (wild herbs). Not yet reviewed; 2009 vintage rated 89 points by Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate).
