Velenosi Lacrima di Morro d'Alba 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

Color: Intense ruby red with violet reflections. Bouquet: Uniquely rich organoleptic characteristics, intense, pleasantly fruity (strawberry, marasca cherry) and flowery (violet, rosebuds). Taste: Soft, lightly tannic, hints of almond perfectly complementing its bouquet.

Added this vintage by error, but cannot find out how to eliminate it from my list.

The nose showed like a basket of fresh picked flowers with pepper, minerals and a healthy dose of earthiness. On the palate, it tasted like it smelled and had a gorgeous note of rose hips in its floral profile. It was a truly enjoyable bottle of wine for those who know and enjoy Lacrima. (Velenosi was awarded the “Bottle” symbol by Slow Wine, representing a winery “whose bottles represent excellent average quality.”)

This wine brought to mind being at a bbq where sweet Portuguese sausage was being grilled in a freshly flowering field; the body remains on the lighter side of medium with a hint of effervescence sneaking up around the edges. I had this wine open for about four days and showed no signs of wear, in fact it got became meatier without loosing its gracefulness.

I love the floral character of this soft, dry red wine!
