Intensives Kirschrot mit ziegelrotem Saum. Aroma von mittlerer Potenz, mit intensiv fruchtigen Ausdruck und mineralischen Noten von Kaffee und Torf. Die sehr reifen Fruchtaromen sind sehr schön mit dem Holz vereint. Am Gaumen kräftig, fleischig, mit saftigen und würzigen Ausdruck, kräftigen Tanninen, retronasal nach Fruchtkonfitüre schmeckend.

Unico, from the legendary Vega Sicilia winery, is only produced in exceptional years. This wine, made from mostly Tempranillo and a little Cabernet Sauvignon, is barrel-aged for a minimum of 10 years before being released. Intense complexity and layer upon layer of co-mingling flavors makes this an unforgettable wine. This wine will continue to age for many decades to come.

Winemaker's Notes:

Intense cherry red with ruby reflections. In its aromatic complexity the nose is uniquely 'Unico,' showing notes of macerated fruit, compote, eucalypus and menthol characteristic of the Vega Sicilia terroir. The palate powerful is opulent and aggressive, with an aromatically persistant finish reflecting the flavors of the nose. The 1996 Unico seems more developed aromatically than the 1995 with elements of coffee and mocha but not quite the richness of fruit of the 1995. It is more supple on the palate but with less depth. It can be enjoyed now and over the next 20 years.
