External Reviews for Veenwouden Bordeaux Blend
Big and brawny, with prune, chocolate and plum flavors and lots of bacony toast. Fleshy and chewy, with toast and coffee notes dominating on the finish. For fans of the style. Drink now through 2004.
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec, the medium to dark ruby-colored 2000 Classic offers a nose of chocolate, coffee bean, and lead pencil-laden black fruits. Medium-bodied and powerful, it is a concentrated wine with loads of extract, muscle, and tannin. Juicy blackberries, black currants, and sweet dark cherries are interspersed with spices in its complex character. This structured wine is reminiscent of a hypothetical Bordeaux from a hot vintage. Drink this outstanding effort between 2005 and 2016.
