Vecchia Cantina Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2009
The 2009 Valdipiatta Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a majestic and certainly noble red wine made exclusively in the township of Montepulciano, which is just south east of Florence in the hills of Tuscany in central Italy. It is comprised of a red blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Canaiolo Nero, and comes from the outstanding 2009 vintage. This Vino Nobile Montepulciano has a medium body with black cherry and spicy flavors that continues to the end of the long finish with hints of earth."The 2009 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a powerful, authoritative wine. Dark cherries, new leather, licorice, mint and smoke emerge from an intense, rich frame. Long, pure and impeccably balanced, the 2009 impresses for its distinct personality and class. The Vino Nobile is 85% Sangiovese and 15% Canaiolo Nero aged in a combination of barrel and cask."-Wine Advocate *Robert Parker rated: 93 pts.*
"Hot" nose. I don't know how else to describe it, but I get it a lot with Italian red wines. It's seems like a characteristic of a not-very-marure wine with noticeable alcohol. On the palate it's quite pleasant. Some raspberry and plum fruit flavors. It is quite smooth as it passes over the palate. No worries from alcohol. Some acid. Very very mellow on the tannin.
