Vasco Sassetti Brunello di Montalcino 2012

Member Review by Jerel1957:

Hold 2015-2027- "The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is a gorgeous winefull of soul and character. Layers of dark red cherries, flowers, mint, licorice and tobacco emerge from the glass in this large-scaled, deeply expressive wine. Despite its size, the wine has plenty of vibrancy and freshness. The weight of Castelnuovo dell-Abate comes through in spades. This is a great showing from Vasco Sassetti. The 2007 spent three years in cask. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027." Score: 94. April 2012. @ryebrook

Very enjoyable sangiovese wine with firm yet soft tannins and that characteristic palate of dark cherries. Nice finish. 14.5% Alc

The Sassetti has been producing wines since the early 1900’s and pursues a quest for absolute quality. Their harvest is delayed to allow the Sangiovese grape to ripen to its full potential even at risk of looming weather and is aged in barrel a minimum of 3 years. This wine is ripe with red fruits and the aroma of Tuscan clay. An amazing pair with lamb ragú.
