A Varozza Winery History: Giovanni "James" Varozza brought his wife and family to St. Helena in 1870 and leased a vineyard at the top of Spring Mountain. His son Joseph then purchased the twenty seven-acre vineyard and winery on Hudson (now Pratt Avenue) in St. Helena. Joseph moved his wife and four children into the farmhouse in the vineyard and continued the art of handcrafting wine from inside the two-story stone and wood winery until he passed away in 1946.
