The Varnier-Fanniere Grand Cru Champagne has excellent and persistent effervescence with a fairly prominent brioche nose. On the palate, the wine continues with brioche and dark melba toast notes with just a touch of sweet vanilla. There is a slight bitterness on the finish that detracts slightly from an otherwise pleasant experience. Deeper, but less elegant than some. 90 points.

Exotic aromas of lavender and sandalwood in this distinctive, elegant Champagne. Itandrsquo;s racy and tightly wound at this stage, so give it a few months or a year in the bottle. Drink now through 2005.

Has plenty of personality. Light-weight and lively, featuring apple, juniper and vanilla notes. Lingers lazily on the finish, with an aftertaste of vanilla and hazelnut. Drink now.
