Bob Varner and Jim Varner are happy to announce the release of the of the Varner 2007 Chardonnay selections. We thank you for your continued support!
This wine is way too young to rate at this time.. It needs time to develop to see how it evolves.. It is frankly not real enjoyable to taste at this time.. It has all the classic characteristics of a pasa robles cab.. But in comparison to a Ridge wine for example it just is too young to tell at this time imo.. Lay it down for a few years , don't drink it now .. its a waste.
I had this for my birthday dinner on Santana Row at LB Steak. It was absolutely fantastic. Bold taste.

External Reviews for Varner Cabernet Sauvignon Foxglove
A beautiful deep garnet hue in the glass, the '06 cab from Foxglove is rich and smooth. Bright cherry on the nose, with floral rose and violet notes woven throughout. More cherry on the palate, that deepens into black raspberry as it rolls across your tongue. A hint of chocolate on the dry, lengthy finish. A hedonistic delight for any red wine drinker.
Foxglove also scores highly with their 10,800-case cuvée of 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon. A blend of all-Paso Robles fruit and composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the wine has a dense ruby/purple color and plenty of black fruit intermixed with loamy soil undertones, licorice, and spice. The wine is luscious and medium to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a heady, opulent finish. Drink it over the next 2-4 years, although it could last a lot longer.
Also a strong effort, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (94% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) was aged primarily in tank with a small amount in oak. It is a seductive, authentic tasting, slightly herbaceous Cabernet that is dominated by black currant and black cherry fruit notes. With medium to full body, round, soft tannins, and a juicy finish, this delicious, endearing wine should drink well for 4ndash;5 years or longer.
This wine is brimming over with flavors of crushed red and black fruits and cocoa powder. These flavors are backed up with velvety-soft tannins and a spicy oak finish. This is not a weak-hearted wine and needs food that will stand up to it. Try a spice-rubbed beef tenderloin.

The nose has the aromas of a fresh basket of fruit. Not only are there deep red fruits such as cherries, berries and plums, but even hints of citrus, as well as some vanillin, oak, and cinnamon notes too. It has a full body that coats your tongue with plenty of herbs, fruit and spicy oak with a dry, smoky tobacco finish. A fantastic deal in the Cabs-under-$15 category!
