This wine has been brooding in my cellar for about 4 years and I am not a believer in antipodal wine longevity. Perhaps I should change that opinion for this sanguineous wine is holding strong at age 7 years with notes of cassis on the nose followed by semi-sweet blackberry and bitter almond on the palate. Very mouth filling medicinal and warm, the wine is very well crafted and to be recommended. 90 points. May be held another 5 years at least.

Weingut: MontesLand: ChileRegion: Colchagua ValleyRebsorten: 92% Carmenère, 8% Petit VerdotAlkoholgehalt: 14,5 Vol. %Säuregehalt: 3,5 g/lRestsüße: 2,5 g/lInhalt: 0,75 lEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16 - 18°CFassreife: in Barriques gereift (18 Monate)Auszeichnungen des Montes Purple Angel 2006:96 Parker Punkte91 Punkte- The Wine Spectator Mai 2009 Rotwein > Chile > Colchagua Valley

A very ambitious style, with dark, exotic toast leading the way for fig sauce, currant paste and Turkish coffee flavors that manage to stay pure and driven. The long, very polished finish let a mineral note echo. Carmenère and Petit Verdot. Drink now... Wine Spectator. A Carmenere wine from Rapel Valley in Chile. 2006 Montes Purple Angel 750ml

Are you looking for an inexpensive wine to keep on hand for cooking or for unexpected guests? Look no further. This versatile Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Curico Valley in Chile. The cool climate gives it crisp acidity and good structure. It is full of citrus flavors with hints of apricot and crispin apples. It almost drinks like a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but without the grapefruit or the price tag. This is a wine that can stand on its own as a pre-dinner quaff or can be paired with shellfish or a light cream sauce.

Crisp and lean, with lime and lemon flavors and a clean finish. Not big, but fresh and lively. Drink now.

Fresh and snappy, with aromas of pine, citrus and tropical fruits. Montes usually shows a good hand with Sauvignon, and they have in this case. The wine is full and melony but also racy and touched by a little green bean and asparagus. And that's as complex as it gets.

Winemaker's Notes:

Vineyard Notes: Monte Lago Vineyards are located in the Northern hills overlooking Clearlake, in Lake County, CA. Hot days, cool nights and perfect soil produce a low yield and intensely varietal fruit. Winemaking Notes: The grapes were hand-picked crushed and fermented in small lots to preserve the fruit's varietal character and avoid extraction of harsh tannins. A long, cool fermentation in a sstainless steel tank further preserved the fresh aromas and flavors. Tasting Notes: 2006 CROZE Sauvignon Blanc is our premier "White Croze." Fermented in stainless steel tank, the wine is balanced and complex with moderate tannin structure and bright fruit. The bouquet reveals fresh aromas of citrus and grapefruit with a hint of new mown grass. As the wine warms in the glass, melon and pineapple flavors emerge. 2006 CROZE Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with poultry, fish and pasta dishes. Toast the harvest with a cool refreshing glass of "White Croze!". Technical Notes: Varietal Composition: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Appellation: Lake County Alcohol: 13% pH: 3.37 Aging: Stainless Steel Production: 406 cases Return to Croze Wine List
