Valtuille Mencia Bierzo Pago de Valdoneje 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): The 2010 Pago de Valdoneje is a bit more expressive aromatically with a similar flavor profile. It, too, is meant for drinking over the next 4-5 years... (Jun 2011) Formerly an L.A. Times 'Wine of the Week,': A red from Spain's Bierzo region... 100% Mencia from vines that are 60 to 100 years old. The gorgeous ruby wine is incredibly aromatic, tasting of spice and earth. It has a wildness and a complexity that's unbelievable at the price. It's made by Raul Perez, one of Bierzo's star enologists, whose own wines sell for much much more. Drink it with a plat of jamn ibrico and Spanish Chorizo, with hearty bean soups and stews, arros con pollo and anything from the grill or barbecue.
