Member Review by Matt Walker:

Black cherries, pepper, leather, and cedarwood. Great acidity and body, quite complex. Dusty texture and a long finish.

In accordance with our basic criterion of ensuring the quality and character of our wines, a number of very old vineyards with a low production level are cultivated at the same time as new plantations enter into production. The average age of our vineyards is over 25 years. Read less

Impressive. Full body, well structured, blackberries nose with nice oak undertones, long finish. Moderate tannins. Enjoyed it with Spanish chorizo and 'jamon serrano', which heighten the experience.

On the nose, overwhelming notes of pomegranate. Also quite floral (rose petal, perfumed, potpourri). Also spice--pepper, cloves, and cinnamon. Riojas can be either muscular or elegant, depending on whether the Tempranillo or the Grenache shines through. I found this on the elegant side. That's not to dismiss it's excellent structure. Noticed a cough-syrup-like numbness on the throat. Very enjoyable. Got it for $19, which I think it quite good.
