Deep purple ruby color with very beautiful nose of cocoa powder, spicy raspberry jam, and bakers spice such as nutmeg and cinnamon. The palate has lots of rich red fruit, a little bittersweet chocolate, and an underlying minerality. Full bodied, with bright acidity, medium soft tannins, and a very long finish. This is an awesome wine that you can enjoy on its own or even better enjoy with food. Highly recommended. 4/5

Extremely food friendly with a wide variety of flavors; a little hot on the nose. Good greens, alfalfa and watercress. Very floral in the finish, lavender prominent. Black and brown spices. Delicious.

According to Antonio Galloni of the Wine Advocate - Roccolo Grassi is one of Veneto s most exciting young estates. Proprietor Marco Sartori makes elegant, perfumed wines that are easily enjoyed with minimum cellaring. Sartori favors a shorter period of drying for his Amarone fruit than is the custom at many of the region s other estates. He is also among the producers who decided not to bottle his 2005 Amarone. The 2006 Amarone, tasted from barrel, is highly promising at this stage. Along with Stefano Campedelli of Marion, Marco Sartori is one of the most talented and inspired young producers in Valpolicella, with seemingly no ceiling as to where his passion and drive will ultimately take him. Simply put, I can t recommend these wines highly enough.

This is a more modern style of Amarone but it still shows the finesse you only see at the best estates. Think of this as a concentrated, full-bodied, dry red wine that still retains a good elegance yet has a distinct streak of spice from the oak aging.
