Smoky, a bit of awkward oak, needs to integrate on the intense licorice, smoked meat, and black fruit scented nose. Juicy, big and mouth filling, if a bit edgy on the palate. This has a nice mineral base lurking under masses of dark fruit, jammy blackberry fruit on entry, then a bit denser. This has a nice modest structure and holds its alcohol very well, ending with good juicy length to the black cherry skin on the finish. 89pts

An excellent wine. At room temperature and after about 20 minutes of opening, this wine is lush with chocolate covered cherry and a hint of tobacco. I only wish there was more of this wine out there to drink! Will have to buy as much of the '04 as I can find.

Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Zenato has a deep ruby color and intense aromas at the nose from the mixture of grapes in this powerful blend. It is full bodied, harmonic, and velvety on the palate with flavors of berries, black pepper and oak. It's tannins are mild and it is recommended with grilled meat dishes.
