Valley of the Moon Winery has been in operation longer than any other winery in the Glen Ellen area. The stone structures themselves date back to 1863, and have great historial significance. In 1997 the winery was transformed into a contemporary winemaking facility; still the original heritage was preserved. Valley of the Moon Winery, as it exsists today, is a testament to both vision and rebirth. The history and old walls remain, but the technology and styling is resolutely modern. This harmonious marriage of past and present provides the perfect environment to craft world-class wines. www.valleyofthemoonwinery.com Read less

Tasted this at the winery. It was much lighter than I was expecting for a syrah, but pleasantly so. Ripe fruit aromas, with blueberry leading the pack. Wonderful flavors of dark fruit, oak, leather, and cedar. Much more fruit-forward than other syrah's I've tasted.

Rich berry fruit tones with a touch of smokiness on the nose. Rich and opulent on the palatte with deep, ripe blueberry flavors. Hints of tobacco and cedar, giving way to a long, lingering finish

Three and a half glasses

Tasting Notes:

Fresh aromas of black cherry, currant and blueberry with hints of tobacco and spice. This wine is well balanced with complex flavors of fresh berries, white pepper and toasty oak and a long lingering finish.
