The 2009 Trebbiano dandrsquo;Abruzzo Vigne Nuove is a very pretty textured white from Valle Reale. Bright citrus, grapefruit, mint and minerals come through nicely in a crisp, refreshing style suited to near-term drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2010andndash;2012.

Abruzzo boasts one of the most dramatic landscapes of any province of Italy. From the Adriatic Sea on the east begins a steady procession of rolling, then steep, hills leading to the foot of the Appenines. This terrain is ideally suited for growing grapes: ideal soils, exposure to the sun, valleys which retain heat during the day, and cooling mountain breezes at night. Here, in central Abruzzo, Valle Reale is working to transform the ubiquitous Trebbiano grape. Many strains of Trebbiano exist, but Trebbiano dandrsquo;Abruzzo, considered one of the best, is not Trebbiano at all, but Bombino Bianco! andldquo;Little white bombandrdquo; or not, cold maceration in stainless steel preserves the lively freshness of the young vinesandrsquo; fruit. An initial aroma of melon introduces the fragrance of white wild flowers and flavors of lemon and orange zest. It is clean, crisp, and refreshing, with good underlying acidity. A wine to enjoyandhellip; Reale!

Clean and fresh as a spring rain, this light white wine has aromas of citrus and white flowers. A perfect wine to pair with light meals such as appetizers or a seafood salad.
