This is made from the Montepulciano grape variety (not to be mistaken with the village of Montepulciano in Tuscany). This is a hearty, red wine with aromas of mixed black berries and rosemary.
An intense nose that registers clear mineral notes of graphite and dark fruit, blackberry in primis, and draws on the deep end slightly balsamic nuances. The taste is always very soft and enveloping thanks to the sweetness of the tannins.
The 2007 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vigne Nuove is a fresh, vinous offering loaded with plummy dark fruit. It offers excellent balance and tons of style, especially at this price point. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
Bright ruby-violet in color, this silky-smooth Montepulciano bursts with roasted red and black cherry and wild berry flavors.
The estate's 2010 Montepulcino d'Abruzzo Cerasuolo is once again one of Italy's best roses, not to mention it is totally delicious. Round, sweet and harmonious, the wine caresses the palate with layers of fruit all the way through to the long, resonant finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013.
WA 91pts - Winemaker Notes - From an almost impenetrable ruby colour that reveals itself with violet tones, opens an intense nose that registers clear mineral notes of graphite and dark fruit, blackberry in primis, and draws on the deep end slightly balsamic nuances. The taste is always very soft and enveloping thanks to the sweetness of the tannins. The typical acid vein of these grapes, that gives a pleasant sense of freshness, also gives to the wine a dynamic taste that makes it better to appreciate the structure and the depth. In the long finish the mature nuances of fruit of the bouquet return.
Winemaker's Notes:
Ruby-red in color, this wine is surprisingly concentrated. With silky tannins and layers of dark berry fruit and spices, this is a rich and aromatic Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Full-bodied and firm, yet supple, it is ready to be enjoyed with hearty pasta dishes, roasted poultry or lamb, and ribs.
