Valentin Bianchi Malbec Famiglia Bianchi 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

The Bianchi family winery was founded in 1928 by Italian immigrant Valentin Bianchi and now covers 350 hectares of vineyard. It is now run by the third generation, headed by Enzo Bianchi. Until recently a sleeping giant that was dependent largely on the domestic market, they have undergone a gradual transformation and modernisation in the past few years. The grapes come primarily from the Doña Elsa Estate, situated in Rama Caída, San Rafael, Mendoza, around 760 metres above sea level. It is an ideal climate for the Malbec grape because of the warm days and cool nights that are typical of the area. The soil is of sandy calcareous composition and alluvial origin. Excellent depth of colour, with ripe, spicy perfumes of blackberries, mulberries, plums and chocolate. Ripe, soft tannins, good structure and a long, elegant finish.

A deep purple-red color and a luscious, intense fruit aroma, with hints of ripe plums, cherries and berries. The flavors mimic the aromas, with a massive, yet soft and silky, mouthfeel, and a lush, long finish.
