User Reviews for Valdivieso Sauvignon Blanc Lontué Valley Reserva

Winemaker's Notes:

Laid back New Zealander Brett Jackson is very much settled in Chile - although he hasn't lost his lifelong affection for the All Blacks - and much of Valdivieso's success in recent years has been down to his efforts. Based in Lontue, the company has a wealth of vineyards and the quality of the terroir is shown by the Single Vineyard wines. The whole range encapsulates everything that Chile excels at: rich, vibrant flavours and smooth, glossy textures - and the wines deserve the multitude of gongs they have picked up in recent years. The fruit was sourced from two vineyards in the Casablanca Valley. One vineyard is located along the northern edge of the valley, receiving mists in the morning, and then the mid afternoon sea breezes, which temper the temperature. The other vineyard is located in the western limit. This is one of the coolest parts of Casablanca, due to being closer to the ocean, and the lowest point, the sea mists linger longer and come in sooner. These conditions produce grapes with intense Sauvignon Blanc aromas and fresh natural acidity. The wine shows Intense Sauvignon Blanc aromas of passion fruit, grape fruit on the nose with underlying typical green capsicum characters. The palate is very flavoursome, with good fruit weight, and a crisp acidity that balances the ripe fruit flavours. The Valdivieso Sauvignon Blanc Reserve pairs with fresh shellfish like oysters, fish soup, fish tartar or grilled with fish with vegetables.
