Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino Tuscany 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2011 Rosso di Montalcino is the result of a severe selection that resulted in no Brunello being bottled in this vintage, a decision I imagine few producers are prepared to make. Tobacco, dried herbs and sweet red cherries all flesh out in this large-scaled, powerful Rosso. There is plenty of depth to fill out the wine’s broad frame...." WA 06/13

Valdicava:
Here in Montalcino the opulence of the Sangiovese grape, more than any other place in Tuscany, has lead to a darker, deeper, and more concentrated wine. Here in Montalcino the opulence of the Sangiovese grape, more than any other place in Tuscany, has lead to a darker, deeper, and more concentrated wine. At our precise latitude of 43 degrees, the warmth of the nearby Tirrean Sea, the protective barrier of the "Monte Amiata", the coolness of the wooded areas, the breeze and moderate rainfall all coincide to facilitate the growth of these grapes to fragrant, full maturity. VALDICAVA is located in the Montosoli area which is famous in Montalcino for creating wines with great balance of body and aromas. We pay the utmost attention towards maintaining the individual characteristics of our wines in order to exalt the spirit of the place, the 'genius loci' of our estate. Read less

Valdicava is always a favorite. Impressive. Bright young cherry, start and finish. Full throttle as promised for its youth. Enjoy this wine now and hope 2012 is better and we get our hands on it first. Viva Valdicava.

3 Times.= 3 X's performance. Thanks for a Full-Throttle Rosso 2011. My guests were amazed (3X's) - I trust this producer. Mille Gratis Valdicava. - 5 STARS only because it remained Valdicava 2011.

Mille Gratis Table #52 and Mr. FOX at Barolo. - 3 very, very, different bottles from the very same case. Fortunately (Mr. Fox) was informed Re: 100% Sangiovese and her bizarre behavior. What an adventure. Thanks Mr. Fox. @ Barolo
