Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino 2014

Member Review by Jerel1957:

D/H 2015-2021-From the 98 point Brunello producer As usual, the Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino is one of the more massive Rossos of the vintage. Black-purple in color, super-ripe and full-bodied, it stands out from the rest. Exceptional purity and depth. This is a very classy red. The 2009 Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino delivers aromas of blackberry, raspberry and floral with hints of spice, chocolate-licorice twist, leather and sandalwood. Firm with fine grained tannins and a ultra-long chewy finish. This has the makeup to be a very special Rosso, but will require a bit more time in bottle to flesh out. (Best 2015-2021) - February, 2013 (JD) "A fruity and firm red, with berry and dried strawberry character, medium body and firm tannins. Well-structured Rosso di Montalcino. " 90 Points James Suckling @sterlingcellars

Here in Montalcino the opulence of the Sangiovese grape, more than any other place in Tuscany, has lead to a darker, deeper, and more concentrated wine. At our precise latitude of 43 degrees, the warmth of the nearby Tirrean Sea, the protective barrier of the "Monte Amiata", the coolness of the wooded areas, the breeze and moderate rainfall all coincide to facilitate the growth of these grapes to fragrant, full maturity. VALDICAVA is located in the Montosoli area which is famous in Montalcino for creating wines with great balance of body and aromas. We pay the utmost attention towards maintaining the individual characteristics of our wines in order to exalt the spirit of the place, the 'genius loci' of our estate. Read less

Garnet, fading to brick at the rim. Heady aromas of crushed violets, sandalwood spice, leather and dried red fruits. Elegant and replete with mineral, tea, and spice flavors, punctuated by a dry, lingering finish. A great wine! Neil Mechanic. A Sangiovese wine from Tuscany in Italy.
