Valderiz Juegabolos Barricas Seleccionadas 4 de 10 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Juegabolos is a single vineyard Ribera del Duero made solely of Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo.) Planted by Tomas Esteban of Bodegas Valderiz, Juegabolos is a vineyard full of boulders, river stones and sand. A site that many would never assume to be ideal for any type of grape production. Yet Esteban persisted and in doing so he has developed one of the most interesting vineyards of the Duero. Jeugabolos Barricas Seleccionadas 4/10 takes what Esteban has done with the vineyard a step further. The 2006 Barricas Seleccionadas 4/10 is the first ever vintage produced and is a selection of four out of the ten barrels of wine made from Juegabolos. The four barrels selected were barrels 7 through 10 and these barrels blended together in equal proportions yields a Ribera del Duero of power, concentration, deep mineral overtones of slate, stone and fresh water that is held in check by dark black fruit, chocolate and notes of tobacco.
