The Valquejigoso project came into being at the beginning of the 90's, when the Colomo Carmona family, decided to plant the first vineyards with the idea of elaborating fine wines characterized by the soil of their estate. Valquejigoso wines are elaborated exclusively in the 38 Has. of vineyards, where Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Syrah and Negral (indigenous to Madrid) have been planted.      The uniqueness of our vineyard is due to the fact that it is located in valleys and slopes with alluvial soils, where the characteristics and composition of the grape varies according to where the vineyard has been planted. In addition, the vines are conditioned by the continental / Mediterranean climate which is characterized by very cold winters and hot summers with scarce rainfall. We practice a sustainable viticulture espectful and we strive to obtain wines true to the nature of the Valquejigoso terrain.     When the grapes reach optimum maturity, they are hand-picked and placed in 12 kilogram boxes, and after a short trip, reach the cellar. After cooling, the grapes, not only the bunches but the berries as well, are subjected to a strict processing selection. They are consequently gravity-vatted in low capacity troncoconic tanks and in French oak vats. Each plot is vinified individually. Then, the wine is aged in French oak barrels and vats, always optimizing the ageing process, so that, our wines maintain the personality of the fruit that characterizes them.     Read less
