RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

A little heavy and dull on the nose with obvoius CO2. There's a gentle sweetness to the nose, and a waxiness with soft floral, red cherry and apricot aromas. A little soft and broad in the mouth, this lacks some energy that I expect from Riesling. The flavors are a nice blend of apricot, orange marmalade and stony mineral notes with a hint of white pepper and a definite, welcome salty tang that pops on the back end along with some tutti frutti notes which linger on the modest finish, turning into a banana flavor. 83pts
Really invigorating nose with fresh minerality, melon, pear, and hints of cayenne. The body is a little sweeter than would be expected by the "off-dry" label (rookie mistake?), but not too overbearing. Some acidity in the middle, but a little flabby toward the finish.

Musings on white wine: For the most part, I'll drink it if you pour it, but I wouldn't usually order it: most of the whites I've encountered tend to be at the low end of the "interesting" continuum. But this wine is an glowing exception to the rule. For a riesling, it has an exceptionally complex bouquet, is smooth on the palate, not overly sweet, and has a finish that lingers like eating a peach in the middle of a freshly-mown lawn on a lazy summer afternoon. Both beers that come out of the Anderson Valley Brewing Company and this wine that comes from its vineyards, I think I know where I'm taking my next road trip.
A little too sweet for me, but would serve nicely as a dessert wine with a little white or yellow cake. As far as flavors go, it was a little citrusy, a little mango-y and perhaps a little pineaple with a nice finish, albeit sweet.

Rating: 85/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. Although its vaguely peachy, honeysuckle-scented aromas raise fair expectations, this slightly wan and washed-out effort simply does not deliver the goods once in the mouth. It is a touch soft in balance with barely perceptible sweetness, but its fruity limits are clear.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
