V. Sattui Madeira Zinfandel NV
Solera-made, wood-aged wine, fortified with brandy. Our Solera is over 120 years old, one of the oldest in the U.S. The wine is sweet and luscious with flavors of almonds, caramel, toffee and orange zest. It shares similar characteristics with a 20-year-old Tawny Port. A collector’s wine.
V. Sattui Winery is a family-owned winery established in 1885 and located in St. Helena, the heart of California's famous Napa Valley. Our award-winning wines are sold exclusively at the winery and through our website direct to our customers. We have no outside distribution. The St. Helena location includes our stone Winery building and a large gourmet cheese shop and deli surrounded by two and a half acres of shaded picnic grounds.
I've gotten some of this two years running, and for now it's my favorite dessert wine. Instead of just tasting sweet, as many dessert wines do, this one actually has a great flavor to accompany the sweetness.
Dark caramelly colour. I was not impressed by the nose. But the taste was phenomenal. Almond butter, toffee, and caramel explode on your palate. I don't drink fortified wines, but thought this was delicious.
We tasted this at the winery and instantly ordered 6 bottles. That's the most you can order of this item at one time due to a limited supply. This Madeira is absolutely fantastic. I just wanted to take my time sipping this delicious wine. We were driving all over wine country tasting here, there and everywhere. But after I tasted this, I didn't care about anything else. And nothing we tasted after this was worth remembering. After you open it, it'll keep for years on your shelf. Store it in upright position.
Smooth like a Wherthers candy.
