User Reviews for Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett Christoffel

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2010 Ürziger Würzgarten Kabinett is another wine that shows it was produced from very strong raw materials, but it seems just a touch stripped in comparison to the Erdener Treppchen Kabinett this year. The nose is a pretty mix of lime zest, pear, apple, lovely minerality and a floral topnote redolent of roses. On the palate the wine is medium-full and quite complex, but with pretty modest mid-palate depth and not a whole lot of length or grip on the finish. Not bad, but this seems to have been potentially a great wine with a bit more gentle handling. It really is noticeably gentle in structure for a 2010er." JG 4/11 "Fresh kiwi and lime scent and lusciously coat the palate from Christoffel’s 2010 Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Kabinett, wreathed with Treppchen-like high tones of herbal extracts. Polished in feel and somehow at once soothing and refreshingly stimulating, this finishes with vivid juiciness of fruit; positive tartness serving for focus; and a distinct note of stone. While it might be marginally less winsome than the corresponding Erdener, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this remain fresh and interesting longer, probably for at least 12-15 years...89" WA #199 02/12
