Unti Dry Creek Valley Rosé 2012

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

83% Grenache, 17% Mourvedre Earthy, and lightly spicy on the nose with a fine lemon verbena note, a little gassy even though fresh and a bit dusty mineral as well. Entering the mouth with gentle peach and tarry berry fruit. This is rather dry with a very cool climate feel to it, laced with dusty mineral and lightly peppery spice tones framing fresh and zesty raspberry fruit. It’s rather edgy in the mouth but shows a fine balance of leanness, structure and fresh fruit flavors. 90pts

From the Unti family’s biodynamic vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, comes this Provencal-style blend of Grenache (77%) and Mourvedre (23%). Harvesting early and limiting skin contact to a few hours allow George and Mick Unti to create a pale rosé with high acidity. Low yielding vines lead to an intense wine with a nose of flowers and red berries, rich and full on the palate…pair-able with a wide variety of foods or enjoyed simply on its own.
