Unti Dry Creek Barbera 2007

Member Review by Derek67:

Dark, inky and bone dry. Red fruits and earth are secondary. About as close to Italy as we get in Cali.

The winemaking includes artisan methods which enhance and support an ability to make wines with a sense of place. Almost all of the wines, and opinions, are unfiltered. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

The Unti estate was born in 1992 when George Unti bought vineyard land in Dry Creek. His son, Mick, now runs the winery. This is a plush, dark fruited Barbera that, in spite of its weight, has lovely balance. Meaty and showing just a touch of cedar from 11 months in mostly neutral oak.
