Surprisingly smooth Pinot at this price point, and a twist-top to boot! Lip-smacking cherry flavors, though not too fruity. Has an earthy balance, sort of a root beer finish. Great casual wine for gatherings.

Underwood Pinot Noir is the one we are known for and an easy introduction to the Union Wine Company brand. Underwood is a vibrant and complex wine that brings the Pinot flavor experience to more people. Reflecting the character of the region, our fruit creates a uniquely Oregon Pinot Noir. The 2014 vintage started off warm, bud break was early, and vineyards went through flowering under ideal conditions. Warm, dry conditions persisted throughout the season and resulted in the warmest summer on record. The unusually warm weather continued into the harvest window as we began to pick under optimal conditions. This was a rare year as both quality and quantity of fruit was very high. The resulting wines are showy with ripe fruit flavors and great concentration. TASTING NOTES: RASPBERRY, CHERRY, CHOCOLATE

Tasting Notes: The Underwood Pinot Noir has aromas of ripe cherries, plum and bacon. The palate is filled with sweet cherry, raspberries, and chocolate. This accessible wine is yummy with fine tannins that come together in a fruit laden finish. The Wine: Underwood Pinot Noir speaks of a journey across Oregon. Sourcing fruit from vineyards spanning the peaks and valleys of the state, this wine is the perfect everyday refresher. We look for sites that give us diversity, low elevation for ripeness and intensity, high elevation for acidity and aromatics. From Walla Walla to the Willamette Valley to the Umpqua, these sites allow us to create this truly Oregon Pinot Noir. The Vintage: The 2013 growing season started off with a fairly typical Oregon spring, with stretches of warm and cold weather. Flowering in the Willamette Valley and Umpqua Valley was early and the fruit set ranged from average to above average for Pinot Noir. As spring became summer the rains let up and we enjoyed a wonderfully warm and dry season. As the summer progressed it became apparent that we were heading for a very early harvest. The Umpqua vineyards were mostly harvest by the end of September under warm, dry conditions. In the Willamette we waited for the rains to pass and harvested clean fruit with balanced flavors in mid-October. Cellar Treatment: Aged 6 months on 15% new French Oak Vineyard Sources: 60% Umpqua Valley 40% Willamette Valley Alcohol: 13.0% at 60F pH: 3.73 TA: 4.7 g/L Residual Sugar: Less than .2%

Bright and tangy, with juicy cranberry and raspberry flavors on the lively frame, lilting pleasantly on the finish. Drink now.

Underwood is fast-becoming one of Oregon’s best values in Pinot Noir. Light and pretty raspberry fruit gains mass and flavor interest with well-integrated veins of stem and earth. It’s nicely balanced and true to variety.
