Intense aromas of ultradry fruit, with sultana and prune character. Full-bodied and chewy, with a tobacco and raisin aftertaste. Rustic and slightly overdone, yet an impressive red. Drink now.
Impressive aromas of ripe fruit and fresh mushrooms, with hints of tobacco. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a generous berry, spice and tar aftertaste. I like this stylish red. Drink now.
Dark garnet core with a ruby rim. High-toned aromas of red berry fruits mingle with the scent of wildflowers. Racy, fairly intense flavors of maraschino cherry, wild strawberry (fragoline) and raspberry, with a hint of chocolate on the finish. Ripe, mouthcoating tannins give this Brunello a solid structure.
Age-worthy Brunello from a classic producer. Amazing fruit character with dusty red berry fruit, a touch of clay mineral and elegance on the palate. You'll appreciate the age on this regal wine.
The 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is very representative of the house style in its intense expression of ripe dark fruit, menthol, leather, chocolate and spices. It offers superb richness and depth, with notable complexity for a wine of its size. Another year of bottle age should help smooth the tannins yet I wouldnandrsquo;t wait too long to drink this wine, as it will likely offers its best drinking relatively early. Anticipated maturity: 2009andndash;2016.
A touch rusty to the eye, but pretty to the nose. Aromas of mint, clove and dried fruits elicit excitement, as does the lovely round palate that's loaded with flavors of smoked meat and herbal but ripe berry fruit. Quite full-bodied and sly, although its aging potential could be limited. Likely best over the next three to five years.
Ruby-red. Wild. Côte-Rôtie-like aromas of raspberry, leather, bloody steak and magnolia. Lush, sweet, fat and seamless; rustic in a positive way. Notes of leather, tobacco, meat, coffee and earth. Finishes with broad, fine, sweet tannins. A distinctly sauvage, very dense wine that should offer early accessibility.
