Uby Colombard Ugni Bl 2009

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

If you ask me what I will remember about the summer of 2008, it won't be the sunshine, or all of the barbecues with close friends. It will be all the time I spent with a French beauty I met. Her name is Uby Gascogne Blanc. Crisp, with delicious citrus flavors, it was easy to fall in love as soon as she touched my lips. I remember one night we had a wonderful dinner, starting with a fresh salad, moving on to fish and other seafood. It was a perfect match! I hope you find Uby as cool and refreshing on those warm summer evenings as I did.

How could you pass up a wine with a name like "Uby?" A fresh, fruit-laced white, reminiscent of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but with a friendlier, softer edge. Highly aromatic, soft on the palate with an intriguing, slightly nutty character. The blend consists of two local varietals: Colombard (50%) and Ugni Blanc (50%) with average vines over 20 years. Great quality-to-price ratio.

Very light, crisp white made with Colombard and Ugni Blanc from the Gascogne region of France. Similar in style to a Sauvignon Blanc, but with a little less green character, the Uby is loaded with lemon-lime, pear and melon notes, and goes well with appetizers, salads and seafood dishes.

Uby has been cultivating vines on the hillsides of Gascogny for over a century, in the heart of the protected environment where the last European Testudo (aquatic tortoises) are found. A blend of Colombard and Ugni Blanc, it is a brilliant yellow wine with flavors and aromas of lemon curd and juicy pear. The mouthwatering, crisp acidity leads to a tangy, medium finish. Enjoy this ldquo;yummyrdquo; wine with cheese and crackers, grilled, coconut shrimp or grilled chicken. Itrsquo;s so good you should buy a case!
