Txomin Etxaniz Getariako Txakolina 2005

Member Review by ryanopaz:

Very light and clear steely yellow in color, with a very fine mist of bubbles throughout. Musty nose with with a herbal dried hay aroma and some crisp pear(faint). Medium to light acidity with a light intial sweetness that fades to dry. The palate is soft with more of the hay flavors, light pear and light woody forest floor. I don't think this is a bad bottle (corked) but it might have a touch of taint. It is closed with a poor grade composite cork. 2.5/5 [NR]

Txomín Etxaníz:
Txomin Etxaniz, located in the heart of Getaria, has maintained its dedication to cultivating vines and making txakoli for generations. Back in 1649, the Gipuzkoa Protocol Archives mention Domingo de Etxaniz, linked to growing vines in Getaria. Later he led the modernisation, recognition and creation of the Denomination of origin Getariako Txakolina in 1989.

The nose was austere with quite a bit of minerality with a touch of oxidation. Lots of lemon, lime, very zippy and zesty. Light bodied, high acidity, and a tart finish. Lost a little on the nose but still packs a wallop on the palate. 2.5/5
