Good wine for the price. Very smooth. Pair it with the Swiss Appenzeller cheese and you will LOVE the way it tastes. I believe this wine is underrated. I would give it 91+.

winemaker's notes: The 2006 Merlot is a single-vineyard wine from the Duncan family's Soda Canyon Ranch in Napa Valley. It has a dark ruby color and a nose of black cherry and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is spicy and full-bodied, with a long finish of cedar and berry fruit. Twomey Cellars

A Merlot wine from California in USA. 2006 Twomey Merlot 750ml

Our 2006 Twomey Merlot combines spice and fruit in a classical expression of varietal character. It has a dark ruby color and nose of black cherry, tobacco, dark chocolate and tarragon. On the palate, it is spicy and full-bodied, with a fine-grained tannic structure that crescendos to a long finish of cedar and berry fruit. This Merlot will continue to give drinking pleasure through 2018. - Winery Composition: 94% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc

The grapes for Twomey Cellars come exclusively from the Soda Canyon Ranch in southeastern Napa Valley, where the rolling hills of volcanic soils are tightly planted with French Merlot clones selected for their low yield of small, intense berries. The shoots are trained vertically for optimal sun and air exposure. In this mild climate tempered by cool, foggy breezes, Merlot ripens slowly and develops rich black fruit character and extraordinary complexity.

Winemaker's Notes:

The wine was racked every three months using soutirage traditional, a process developed in Bordeaux over centuries of fine winemaking. This is a slow, labor-intensive method of decanting the wine from one barrel to another without the disruptive effect of pumping. This gentle handling preserves the wine’s full aromatic intensity while achieving a crystal-clear brilliance and smooth, silky texture.
