Two Vines Shiraz 2014

Member Review by jamessulis:

This is a beautiful wine from Columbia Crest. It's full of ripe berry aroma, inky in color and bursting with fresh earthy morning moss deep bing cherry on the palate. It's very smooth with a bit of spice and extremely well balanced. Bought it in 08, drinking it now and it's delightful.

the aroma is strong of cherry, but not much else. upon tasting i found the cherry again which persisted until the very end of its travel through my mouth finally relenting to a dark earthy taste before being lost down my throat. i found this pattern to hold constistent until after i had a few bites of my dinner (beef empanadas with fresh spicy green salsa). the spice from the food really brought the sweetness of the cherry out more and made the dark earthy taste more pronounced to where it reminded me of my time spent hiking/backpacking/climbing the columbia river valley. and while this was a nice tasting wine, i found it to be a bit too simple to really make me so wow, or even hmm.

Lots of berries, smooth, not great depth but a good value. Nice accompaniment to Morrocan tagine and couscous.

toasty & tobacco scent, mocha taste with a caramel finish, a bit too mild

'This Shiraz features New World-style ripe and jammy fruit aromas.Flavors of black cherry and white pepper are pronounced on the palatewith hints of boysenberry and raspberry. The lingering finish is pleasinglysupple.'

Soft, open-textured and appealing for its pure blackberry and cherry fruit, finishing with a meaty note. Drink now through 2009.

A good effort, with plenty of snap and sizzle for an eight dollar wine. You get juicy berry fruit, some clean spice and suggestions of white pepper, fine acids and decent length. It says Shiraz but itrsquo;s less of an Aussie style and more of a snappy, acid-driven Washington take.

Bright and juicy, with plum, berry and an interesting tomato note in the mix. The finish lingers against very fine tannins. Drink now through 2008.

A typically juicy effort, this lovely, spicy wine seamlessly mixes bright berry fruit and smooth chocolate, with hints of earth and pepper. There are better Syrahs made in Washington (including CC's own reserve), but you'll have to pay three times as much to find them.
