The 2009 Gnarly Dudes is an absolute stunner. Huge aroma's of black currants, blueberries and dark plums tickle the senses in preparation for the gobs of delicious black fruit that coat the pallet. This wine has lovely balance, the tannins are fine grained but provide a nice structural base, the alcohol is not overly cloying but is very much present and able to provide a full bodied mouth-feel. Enjoy this with some BBQ or chili for a lovely outdoor summer experience!

The 2003 Shiraz Gnarly Dudes' dense ruby/black color is followed by a sweet nose of creme de cassis and blackberries, supple tannin, an opulent attack and mid-palate, and a pure, seamless finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

Lithe and supple. A silky red, with a focused beam of blackberry, plum and subtle spice that points right through the long, juicy finish. Best from 2008 through 2013.

The color has a black core with red/brick red rim. On the nose, it has elegant red and black fruits coupled with fine spice, floral and cedary oak. This wine is from a near perfect vintage and is quite closed, but will really open up in the next few months. The palate is tight and full of restraint.

The 2005 Shiraz ldquo;Gnarly Dudesrdquo; delivers notes of pepper, scorched earth, violets, blueberry, and blackberry. This leads to a full-bodied wine with excellent blue fruit flavors, bright acidity, but just a bit of narrowness on the mid-palate. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, the finish long and pure. Drink this lip-smacking Shiraz over the next 6 years.

Supple, fleshy, silky and generous with its fresh-tasting plum, blueberry and currant fruit, this red picks up welcome hints of roast meat and spice as the finish lingers easily. Shows intensity, integrity and length. Drink now through 2020. 12,000 cases made. -HS Glass-staining purple. Rich blackberry and blueberry compote, mocha and licorice on the nose, along with a hint of dried violet. Fleshy and large-scaled but with surprising vivacity to the flavors of dark berries, mocha and floral pastilles. A lush, textbook Australian shiraz that finishes long and juicy, with echoing florality. This is made from the same sources as the Bellas Garden.

Ruby-red. Energetic strawberry and raspberry scents are brightened by fresh mineral and floral qualities on the highly perfumed nose. This reminds me of a top-notch New World pinot, with impressively energetic red fruit flavors expanding across the palate. No excess weight here, and no rough edges either. Finishes suave, sweet and very long.

Winemaker's Notes:

Named after the gnarled old shiraz vines from which the wine is made. The Gnarly Dudes is overflowing with juicy blackberry and blackcurrant with sweet spice (think Christmas cake). The use of mostly older French barrels means that the oak sits in the background allowing the fruit to take centre stage. The tannins are ripe and supple on the persistent finish. Overall this is a very enjoyable wine.
