Intense and refined Shiraz with aromas of rich blackberry jam, plums and powdered sugar rounded out with clove and vanilla. Full bodied on the palate with Black cherries, mint and cinnamon. Long... long finish of sour cherry. This is a serious shiraz.

Winemaker's Notes:

BRAVE FACES BAROSSA VALLEY 65% SHIRAZ 35% GRENACHE VINTAGE 2005 COLOUR Deep plum colour with purple hue. AROMA Hints of cedary oak backed by juicy morello cherry and blackberry fruit. PALATE Soft and approachable silky tannins mingle with sweet spice and juicy red fruits. This is a great food wine perfect with pork belly and porcini mushroom risotto, the dry savory finish the perfect foil for this type of food. WINEMAKING The grapes were crushed into and fermented in open top potters, with regular pump overs twice daily to extract flavour, colour and tannin. The grapes were then pressed and the wine was transferred to tank and then racked to barrel for oak maturation. MATURATION 10 months in predominantly old French oak, 25% of which was new, the balance 1, 2 and 3 year old French with some American oak. ANALYSIS Alc 15%, pH 3.33, Acidity 7.44 CELLAR POTENTIAL 5 to 6 years REGION Barossa Valley South Australia At the time of harvest in the Barossa the fruit had intense colour and flavour. The long Indian summer was perfect for ripening, delivering Shiraz ranging from elegant and perfumed to dense and rich with extremely perfumed and attractive Grenache.
