Dark and dense, but emerges with vivid color and bright flavors of raspberry, black cherry and a hint of peach, beautifully tinged with cocoa, licorice and mineral notes as the finish sails on impressively. Drink now through 2018.

The purple-colored 2006 Shiraz Bella's Garden from Barossa Valley offers a brooding bouquet of wood smoke, pepper, damp earth, blueberry, and licorice. This leads to a full-bodied, layered Shiraz with excellent grip and power. Give it 2-3 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2011 to 2022.

Ruby-red. Energetic red and dark berry, floral and mineral scents along with a hint of spun sugar. Lively, sharply focused black raspberry and cherry preserve flavors are surprisingly weightless, with back-end mineral bite adding energy. A vibrant, deeply flavored shiraz that's very inviting right now but has the balance to age.

Complex, focused, fresh and distinctive for its mineral-accented cherry and plum flavors, hinting at licorice, bay leaf, black tea and pepper as the finish lingers against refined, mouthcaressing tannins. This has depth and lingers well. Drink now through 2019.

Managing partner Michael Twelftree and winemaker Matt Wenk have found a winning formula with their Garden Series, an umbrella of six different Shiraz wines, each sourced from vineyards located in subappellations of South Australia. The Barossa bottling, Bella's Garden, has reached the Top 100 a total of six times since its first release (the 2001 vintage). Wenk used 18 percent new French oak hogshead, minimal fining and no filtration to produce this fresh-tasting, complex wine. 2,400 cases made.

Full bodied, ripe, layered Shiraz sourced from top vineyards in Barossa and vinted with the skill and artistry that has made this winery legendary. The Wine Spectator said "Complex, focused, fresh and distinctive for its mineral-accented cherry and plum flavors, hinting at licorice, bay leaf, black tea and pepper as the finish lingers against refined, mouth caressing tannins. This has depth and lingers well. Drink now through 2019."

Tight and elegant from the start. Fine red fruits that gently roll through the palate, with earthy cedary notes. The fine tannins and acid support the mid- to late-palate and slowly all of the flavor and structure subsides evenly after a 60 second finish.

Winemaker's Notes:

Black with deep, deep red rim. Aroma is restrained on release, with deep red fruits, dusty cinnamon spice, licorice and earth. Underneath are subtle notes of smoky cedar and chocolate. The palate is tight and elegant from the start. Fine red fruits that gently roll through the palate, with earthy cedary notes. The fine tannins and acid support the mid to late palate and slowly all of the flavour and structure subsides evenly after a 60 second finish. The 2009 season was a glorious season and this Bella’s could be the best to date. Be patient.
