Two Dog Vineyard Merlot From Graeser Winery Diamond Mountain District Merlot Red 2004

Graeser Winery is permanently closed as of July 2010. They were formerly located in the Diamond Mountain District, in the hills above Calistoga, off of Petrified Forest Road. They produced estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, as well as wines with purchased fruit, including Semillon, Chardonnay, a NV Merlot, Sangiovese, and Zinfandel blends.

Add your reviewThe winemakers' notes are pretty much dead on - cheries, cola, berries, caramel, mocha. You get this right from the start. I may have shunned this as being borderline too sweet, but then its other dimensions of tannins and a small taste of oak show up and redeems itself. The style is similar to the Red Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon I had a few days ago. This is just lighter bodied, even more easier drinking. Just like the Red Diamond CS, I can see myself popping this for a casual party with mismatch food, spicy asian cuisine or I can see this perfect for a summer picnic/bbq with ribs & bbq sauce, hamburgers or hotdogs. Its a definite crowd pleaser, with a price that will please me!
Nice easy drinking merlot. This will not blow you away but is nice for the deck where you have a mix of food.
