Light cherries and vanilla on the nose - good use of oak, nice vanilla. Bit tart on the finish, but nice. Bit pricey though.
Temp based wine with Graciano and Garnacha. $49. Big, big wine but balanced. Like drinking silk velvet. Very nicely made, with great depth and concentration in the mid-palate. A bit hot in the aromas, but suspect it would blow off quickly. New release. Tiny bits of roasted coffee in the aromas and flavors.
Paired wonderfully with Herb Roasted Lamb chops with a Black Olive Tapenade accompanied by Roasted Mushrooms and Tomatoes all lightly covered with a Basil Vinaigrette. I don't think a wine could've gone better with this meal!
Four and a half glasses
Think of a great California Zin you know, plus oak. The oak averse need not fear, though, the balance is excellent.
One of the best Sierra Foothills wines that I have ever had. Very balanced and smooth with fabulous fruit and depth. A blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet and Petit Verdot.
