User Reviews for Twisted Oak Grenache Calaveras County Silvaspoons Vineyard

Winemaker's Notes:

Here is a little wine you'll want to stand back and take a long look at - because if you get any closer you'll singe the hair out of the inside of your nose. Crisp aromas of fetid swamp clash mightily with rotting wood and a playful kerosene note. It has a lively acidity that is best paired with the calcium deposits in your bathtub. A long satisfying finish in the form of chemical burns down the inside of your esophagous round out this honey of a wine. (Sigh. This is the last time we let Uncle Fester write tasting notes....) Food Pairings: By itself! As an aperitif grilled summer vegetables, light appetizers, BBQ'd anything!! 750 ml $16.00 Geek Sheet Data for 2006 Calaveras County Rosado (click here for printable PDF Geek Sheet) (learn more! check out our Geek Sheet Cheat Sheat) Production Notes The first Rosado made 100% from our own estate vineyard here in Vallecito. Our Grenache program calls for bleeding some of the fresh "free-run" juice off of the must after it has been crushed. This juice is separated from the main Grenache and fermented on its own. Upon reaching the winery, the fruit was whole cluster pressed to remove the fresh grape juice from the skins. After pressing, the Grenache was inoculated with a Spanish yeast strain and the yeast monitored throughout fermentation to ensure optimal yeast viability. The juice was fermented in a stainless steel tank over a period of nearly 30 days. It was bottled shortly after harvest in order to keep the fresh fruit flavors intact. TECHNICAL NITTY GRITTY Varietals & Vineyards: 100% Grenache, Colina Roja block Twisted Oak Winery Harvest Date: October 14th, 2006 Oak Program: 100% stainless steel (that would be... NO OAK!) (NONE) (ZIP) (ZILCH!) Food Pairings: By itself! as an aperitif grilled summer vegetables, light appetizers, BBQ'd anything!! Sugar: .09% Oak: none
